Terms

Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of this site. They’re written to be read, not skimmed past — it takes about three minutes.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using Velvet you agree to these terms, the community guidelines and the privacy notice. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

2. You must be 18 or older

Velvet is for adults only. By confirming your age you declare that you are at least 18 and old enough to use a service like this where you live. We don’t verify anyone’s age or identity, so this is your own declaration and your own responsibility. Accounts and sessions that appear to belong to someone under 18 will be banned.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to follow the community guidelines. In particular, you must not:

  • share sexual content with anyone who hasn’t clearly agreed to it, or any sexual content involving minors;
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post hate speech;
  • record, screenshot or share other people’s chats, voices or images;
  • spam, scam, advertise, impersonate others, or run bots or automated tools;
  • try to identify, track or contact people outside the site against their wishes;
  • get around blocks, bans, rate limits or filters, or interfere with the site’s security or operation;
  • break any law that applies to you or to the operator.

4. What you say is yours — and your responsibility

You keep ownership of what you send, and you’re responsible for it. You give the operator only the permission needed to carry it to the person you’re talking to and, if it’s reported, to review it, as described in the privacy notice.

Other people are strangers. The operator doesn’t vet them and isn’t responsible for what they say or do. Use the safety tools, and see the safety page for tips.

5. Moderation, bans and termination

Moderators may review reports, remove access, and issue warnings or temporary or permanent bans when they believe these terms or the guidelines have been broken. Bans can apply to a session, an account and the network it comes from. The operator may also suspend or end access to protect other people or the service, or where the law requires it.

You can stop using Velvet at any time, and you can delete your account from your account page.

6. No warranties

Velvet is provided “as is” and “as available”. The operator does its best to keep it running and safe but doesn’t promise it will always be available, free of errors, or that every connection will work. Features can be added, changed or removed, and the service may be paused for maintenance or shut down.

7. Limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, the operator isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the behaviour of other users. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that can’t be excluded by law.

8. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. If the changes are significant, you’ll be asked to confirm again before chatting. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
