Help & FAQ
Something not working?
Camera & microphone
My browser says permission was denied
The site can only ask once; after that, your browser remembers the answer. To change it, use the browser’s own settings, then reload the page:
- Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers (desktop): click the icon to the left of the address bar, open Site settings or the permissions panel, and set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
- Firefox (desktop): click the camera/microphone or lock icon in the address bar and remove the “Blocked” permission, then reload and choose Allow when asked.
- Safari (Mac): open Safari › Settings › Websites, choose Camera and Microphone, and set this site to Allow or Ask.
- Safari on iPhone or iPad: tap the aA button in the address bar, then Website Settings, and allow Camera and Microphone. Also check Settings › Safari › Camera and Microphone.
- Chrome on Android: tap the icon left of the address bar, then Permissions. If it’s still blocked, check that Chrome itself is allowed to use the camera and mic in Android’s app settings.
Permission is allowed, but there’s no picture or sound
- Another app (a video call, a recording tool) may be holding the camera. Close it and try again.
- On macOS, check System Settings › Privacy & Security that your browser may use the camera and microphone.
- On Windows, check Settings › Privacy & security › Camera and Microphone allow desktop apps.
- If you have more than one camera or mic, pick the right one in the device menu during setup.
- Some laptops have a physical camera switch or shutter, or a mute key with its own light.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Camera and microphone only work on a secure (https) connection.
Matching & connecting
It keeps saying it’s looking for someone
A match needs another person waiting in the same mode at the same time who fits your filters — and whose filters you fit. A few things help:
- Loosen or remove language, country or gender filters. They are strict, so each one shrinks the pool.
- Interests never block a match, but very specific ones won’t help much either.
- Try a different mode, or come back at a busier time of day.
We matched, but the call never connects
Calls are carried through this site’s relay server, which normally gets through even strict networks. When it doesn’t, it’s usually because the network blocks it:
- Work, school, hotel or public Wi-Fi often block the ports calls use. The relay can fall back to an encrypted TCP/TLS connection that looks like ordinary web traffic, but some firewalls and filtering proxies still block it.
- VPNs and privacy extensions can interfere with WebRTC. Try turning them off for this site.
- Mobile data is a quick way to test: if it works there, the problem is the Wi-Fi network.
If a call drops, the app tries to reconnect for about 20 seconds before ending the chat.
It says I’m already chatting in another tab
You can only have one active chat at a time. If you open the site in a second tab or window, the newest one takes over and the older one is disconnected. Close the extra tabs and carry on in one.
Why did my call end on its own?
Calls have a maximum length of 60 minutes, and a chat also ends if the other person leaves or loses their connection for too long. You can always match again.
Chatting & reporting
How do I report someone?
Press Report during the chat. Pick a reason, add a note if you like, and tick any recent messages you want to include as evidence. You can also block them in the same step. Missed it? You can still report for about 15 minutes after a chat ends. See Safety for what moderators can see.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes: Esc then N for Next, and Esc then S for Stop. They don’t fire while you’re typing in the message box.
Why can’t I see a photo or voice note?
Attachments arrive hidden, and you choose whether to reveal each one. They’re deleted automatically shortly after the chat ends, so you can’t go back to them later.
Accounts, rooms & your data
I forgot my password
Use one of the recovery codes you saved when you created your account. Each code works once and lets you set a new password. There’s no email reset — we never collect an email address — so if you’ve lost both your password and your codes, the account can’t be recovered. You can still chat as a guest or make a new account.
How do private rooms work?
Create a room and share the invite link with someone you know. Anyone with the link can join, so share it privately. Rooms expire after about 24 hours, and you can revoke a link early if it gets out.
How do I delete my data?
- If you have an account, you can delete it from your account page. That removes the account, its saved preferences and its block list.
- Clearing this site’s cookies in your browser disconnects you from your guest session; unused guest sessions expire on their own.
- Chat messages and attachments are already deleted automatically shortly after each chat ends.
- Reports and their evidence are kept for a limited time for safety reasons. For anything else, contact the operator — see the privacy notice.
